Important question!!! How do you properly pronounce Muritai???

Google suggests the old Wellingtonian way is Muur-ee-ty. Or something like that...but can't find anything contemporary.

I would say it mYOO-ri-tie. But I am often second-guessing myself on Maori pronunciations!

This may have no relevance at all, but Muriwai, where the gannet colony is on the west coast of Auckland, is pronounced (sort of) Mirra-why. (Being right away from the other place, I realize the local tribes may have a different accent entirely.)

This is my guess as well...the "r" is rolled a bit, making it sound a bit like a "d".
