Hotels near Auckland Airport

Hi All

We are arriving on Thursday lunchtime and have decided to book a hotel and rest overnight before heading down to Tauranga the next day. Looking for a nice hotel about 30-50 minutes drive from the airport in a Tauranga-ish direction. Any suggestions welcome.

I don't personally know about hotels near the airport, but there's a Novotel hotel right by the terminal.

Gateway is cheap and basic but fine. Worth paying for a a somewhat nicer room. Shop around on different sites: their rates can vary widely.

Sorry, don't know about your way but we've stayed a couple of times at the Holiday Inn near the airport which was excellent. They have a pool and do a great breakfast.

Best thing would be to use Google Maps, then Google the hotels to see what the reviews are like.. Good luck.

I can recommend the Novotel, we stayed there before flying to Oz in July.

You say 'drive' have you got your car organised?

If not, depending on cost it might be cheaper to book one of the shuttle buses down to Tauranga. For one person for about 20$ you can get the Intercity bus from the airport down to Tauranga - intercity.co.nz. Easy to book online and no driving. Depending on your actual arrival time there are a few time options. The latest one leaves at 4pm and gets you into Tauranga at 8.30pm. We have used this service before and they are very good.
