    Default Regarding IQA Exempt List

    Hi,

First of all let me thank for the support and answers I'm getting for all of my post's.

This time I have a question regarding IQA and it is...

    1. My B.Sc (Science) is from Osmania University of 2001 but same degree and university is in "List of Qualifications Exempt" from Assessment after 2001 that is 2002.

    2. My MCA (Master of Computer Applications) is from Osmania University of 2004 which is in "List of Qualifications Exempt".

Currently I'm waiting for my ITA and my EOI got selected on 22nd Aug 2012 with 150 pts. So my question is, will CO ask me for IQA or will consider my Master's Degree and proceed?

    Thanks
    Safdar Ali

You will have to have your bachelor's degree assessed. They don't consider master's degrees without also looking at the bachelor's degree that went before it, because in some countries, it is possible to gain a master's in a very narrow area, without the broad grounding in the subject which would be necessary to gain access to a master's programme in NZ. Although your university, and the course of the same name, is mentioned in the exemption list, as your degree dates from the year before that mentioned, it is not exempt.

It may also be necessary to have your master's assessed, depending on what the requirements are for your career in the LTSSL list. What is your work? - not just IT, but the exact name?

I have got my work assessed from ACS (Australian Computer Society) as "System Analyst" ANZCO# 261112 with more than 7 years of exp.

Safdar - you are mixing things up. ACS is related to Australia and NZQA is to do with New Zealand. There is no co-relation between these two. Long stroy short, as JandM suggested, you surely need to get your Bachelor's assessed from NZQA.

Okay - so, for a Systems Analyst, the requirement is this.

Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Information Technology (Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology) OR Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology AND three years of relevant work experience.
What I'm thinking is that as your Bachelor degree is in Science (not these other computer-connected disciplines), you may need NZQA to look at the subject matter of your Master's, to see if they can find that you have done the study to match this requirement within your master's programme. Maybe your bachelor's had a computer-related angle, in which case this extra step might not be needed. But you should bear it in mind.

Yes, you will have to have it assessed because it is only in the list from the year after you graduated.
