Question Is it worth submitting EOI in current scenario for those under 140 points?

    Hi Everyone.

This is my first post. I will be grateful, If someone can answer my queries/doubts.

Here is my summary (Main applicant): -

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Nationality
    - Indian
    Age
    -29 yrs 330 days
    Qualification
-Master of computer applications (3 yrs degree, Pass-out 2008) level 9
-MSc (computer Science) (2 yrs degree, Pass-out 2005) level 8
-Bachelor of computer applications (3 yrs degree, Pass-out 2003) level 7
    English
    -6.5 overall
Work Experience (Information technology, Software Engineer-261313)
    - 4 yrs
    - No skilled job or job offer in New Zealand
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    My wife's (partner) summary

    Nationality
    - Indian
    Age
    -29 yrs
    Qualification
-Bachelor of arts (cource in Hindi language) (3 yrs degree, Pass-out 2004) level 7
    English
    -N/A (very basic english)
    Work Experience
    - None
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I can calculate following =

-Me Principal Applicant (30 for age + 60 for MCA + 15 for 4yr work)
    -partner (NIL?)

    Total comes = 105

I am not sure about bonus points, as there is condition that to get bonus point we need to show level 7 qualification + 3 years exp. But I am claiming qualification points for my master degree-level 9.

Can you please guide If I calculated less or missing something. Is it worth trying $510 EOI? What are the chances?

Also the EOI selection history for 2012 shows that 125 points applications were picked just once or twice this year.

    your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
    -Jitender

Hi, we are in the process of making our first entry as residents in DEC 2012. We have done some research but we do have a constant drone of butterflies in our tummies. I am told that job situation continues to be challenging!!

I'll be back a bit later - in the middle of a real-life situation, looking for our car insurance documents, right now!

    Hi,

To claim bonus points for qualification your qualification should have been an area of absolute skill shortage and qualification requirement on INZ1093 Column 4 are Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Information Technology (Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology) OR Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology AND three years of relevant work experience.

And as you have a Bachelor Degree in Computer Application which is mentioned as Level - 7 by you so it would be ok for you. By the way did you mentioned this Level-7 on the basis of IQA you have got from NZQA ?

And lets talk about your points.

You have calculated the points correctly however you can have extra 10 bonus points for your qualification as well as your qualification being in an area of absolute skills shortage. But for that either you should have worked in a company in india which is actually domiciled in some specific countries or your work experience should have been in an area of absolute skills shortage which is I guess is true in your case as you are Software Engineer (261313) .

So you can claim total of 115 points on your own. I really don't wanna dis-heart you but these 115 points are quite less to be selected for ITA. However there is a key; if your wife can have IELTS result of 6.5 overall and NZQA gives her a Level 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7, you can claim 20 points for her as well which will bring you to 135 and which are quite good point for selection.

Other members please confirm what i have mentioned to further ease this guy.

    Regards,

    Fraz

Thanks Fraz for your valuable time and comments.

And the level 7 i mentioned above is just on the basis of my bachelor degree being listed in the recognized qualifications on NZ website. No IQA done yet.

So I am not sure whether I can get those 10 bonus points on the basis of my bachelor degree?

Another question is about my age points, I am just one month short of becoming 30. If i lodge my application before that date, will i get any advantage. Coz after one month i'll be getting 5 points less.

And 6.5 bands for my wife seems next to impossible. Can I pay English language fee to NZ immigration and get partner qualification points?

    Please guide....

Going further from what afmamoon said, and your reply...

You don't have to have an IQA if your degree (from the institution you attended, and the year of your award included) is in the exempt list.

The points for your age will be automatically reduced if your EOI is still in the pool when your birthday arrives.

About your wife - sorry, for a partner's qualification to get you any points, that partner has to be able to show ability in English equal to a main applicant's, that is, a 6.5 average.

    Hi,

    - If your degree is in the exempt list then you don't need to go for an IQA. But just send an email to INZ and ask them that if your qualification i.e.Bachelor in Computer Applications is in an area of absolute skills shortage for Bonus points. From it name, it seems to be but better to take confirmation from INZ.

    - Until you will not get the ITA, your age points will not be locked even if you raise an EOI now. Your age points will lock once you will get an ITA.

    - About getting qualification points after paying the English language fee, I really don't know about it. But JandM will surely forward you something about it.

    Regards,
