    Have a look at Tauranga.

Good beaches, good weather, not as hectic as Auckland, 2hours drive from Auckland.

Yes would agree with this. You don't say if a job is needed to make the move, as that would have a bearing on where you live, obviously

Warkworth is in Rodney but still a charming town. Further north has easy access to beautiful beaches; Whangarei area or Bay of Islands.

Cambridge is 1 hr from Raglan, 1 1/2 to Mt Manganui and a beautiful town to bring up kids. Schools are good and we love it. Just our experience as parents of 6/8 yr old boys.

Agree Cambridge is great for families but like you I WISH it was nearer the beach. Apart from the walk-ways around the town, or the lake, you have to get in a car and drive to get to anywhere nice to walk.

Gosh that's an odd requirement. There are lots of open minded families around I'm sure. It would just depend upon what suggestions you had in mind :-)

Gisborne ! Fantastic beaches, good value real estate, gorgeous scenery, fine schools and friendly locals. Probably the hospital has vacancies in your hubby's field as lots of newbies want to go to the bigger cities. We've been here ten years now.

Good luck with wherever you go!
