Default Case referred to MA for diabetes

My CO has referred my case to the Medical Assessor as I have diabetes. Does anybody have any experience similar to this regarding the delay I can expect and what other tests they might require?
Could diabetes be a reason for getting refused? My Hba1c was 7.9 when tested for the medical and I have read they like it to be below 8 and all my other tests were normal. My BMI is fine and my weight is correct for my size.

I am A type 1 diabetic and was referred to medical assessor. They needed a letter from my specialist and all in all took about 6 weeks. What they are concerned about is that your diabetes will not cost more than $25000 and by the sound of it your diabetes is well controlled. Badly controlled diabetes can lead to all sorts of severe complications but you will be glad to know the vast majority are approved so they have to ensure you have good control and that there are no serious complications which by the sound of it there are not.

Was that 6 weeks to get your visa approved from start to finish or just a 6 week delay waiting on the medical assessor?

6 weeks delay for medicals. When we were notified that I had been referred to assessor it took 6 weeks from then before the acceptance so in all it took about 3 to 4 months but different visas take different times. Ours was a business investment visa which is different to most
