What is the job market for Aircraft Restoration and where.

Hello,

I am still new to this group and appreciate your patience. My husband is self employed as a Antique Aircraft Restoration business here in the US. I looked online and didn't see any type of jobs in that field, only for a mechanic or glider pilot. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any jobs in that field.
My biggest fear is considering a move to NZ with out having any type of job. HELP.

I see from your other post that you currently run your own business. You don't HAVE to have a job - you can get a visa to come in as a business person.

A quick search shows two vintage aircraft businesses -- one on Auckland's North Shore (Vintage Aircraft Co.), another in Wellington (Vintage Aviators) -- I'm sure there are more. Since it's a specialised field, suggest you contact these companies directly and see if they're looking for staff. A bit more knowledge about the visa process would be a good start before you do that, though, as I wouldn't assume that these businesses have a lot of experience hiring overseas personnel.

I have no experience with business class visas, sorry, but the forum mod has already given you the appropriate links for more information.

Would your husband qualify for work as an aircraft engineer? If so, then plenty of opportunity.

Also in Blenheim, there is the Omaka Aviation Museum, which could be interested in his skills.

Beachcomber, I'm not sure. He taught some aviation classes at the university at one time, as well as some glider/flight training lessons. He is certified to inspect the aircraft for there yearly annuals each year as well as doing any type of maintenance and rebuilding. I know he works alot with some of the FAA reps.

Have you come across this company, http://www.flyinn.co.nz/ ? I remember reading something about them on a flying forum here in the states and just came across them again. One of their employees, Peter, has a Tiger Moth and probably has many contacts in the vintage aircraft arena.

Let me know if your experiences are good with them. I may employ one of their 172 to tour around. I'm having a hard time dealing with the fact that if we make the move I will have to give up my Cessna 210. I love her dearly, but bringing a bird to NZ is just a bit beyond comprehension while considering all of the other posessions I have to pack and get organized.
