Lightbulb How to calculate EOI points???

Hello, I'm sorry if this was already posted but I couldn't find any info on it.

I was looking for the calculator to figure the EOI points. I know that the basic number that would be preferred is 140. I don't want this to sound stupid.
If my husband is the main money maker, he needs to fill it out. He would add the rest of the family to his form for residency. Now to calculate the points, is it determined solely on his skills, or both of us? I guess I don't understand how to come up with high point totals.
    help

Here is the point indicator http://www.immigration.govt.nz/pointsindicator/
The primary applicant should be the one with the education that matches the best with the LTSSL http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ls.htm?level=1 but the partners qualifications will add a bit.

But watch out for the points calculator, because lately it seems to be giving points for ALL qualifications, whereas INZ only allow points on the highest level one. For example, suppose someone has a bachelor's, a master's, and a doctorate, they're only entitled to 60 points, not 50+60+60.

Here is a link http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/i41496.htm to the INZ operational manual, which is a chart giving an overview of points available - the right-hand column shows the sections of the manual where you can find detailed regulations showing how people can qualify for each lot of points.

Ok so if I'm reading and understanding this correctly. The main score will come from my husband, but since I'm also on his application we will add my points to it. Ok if that is the case I see now how the totals move up in points. Hopefully I will not need to ask more questions.

we will add my points to it
You do know he can only get a maximum of 20 points for you, however well you are qualified, don't you?

People tend to think about 'our' SMC application, but it's not - it's one main applicant's application, with just the possibility of a few additional points for an educated partner and/or for any close family member who is already a NZ resident or citizen.
