Default Christmas Time, Mistletoe and Wine

When we were in Christchurch we'd have a totally northern hemisphere christmas. Turkey, stuffing, roast spuds, brandy butter, mince pies, brussel sprouts, christmas pudding, chipolata sausages, mulled wine the lot.

If that's the sort of christmas you had before you came to NZ, have you changed or are you still traditional?

    Oh and Happy Christmas.

I might have to hang a little tinsel in my car as that is all I own right now. No house yet!! As a kid in NZ, Christmas was always spent at the beach. I will dip my toes in the Pacific on Christmas Day and celebrate being home.

We're getting a ham this year but it'll be steaks on the barbie and cold beers after a trip to the beach!

Year 1 BBQ...with friends and DH's parents were over. Paddled in the sea on Christmas eve
Year 2 missed the turkey last year so cold turkey salad, really relaxed day..our first time in 20 years of marriage that it had just been us and no outlaws....peaceful relaxed joyous...and even with whooping cough my toes went in the water on Christmas eve!
Year 3 planning another quiet family day...with feet in the sea on Christmas eve.

Yes it has changed, but have managed to play Christmas carols without it feeling too strange this year!
