Thumbs up Tips on how to enhance your job applications

    Hi everyone,

I've been working in HR & recruitment for the past 10 years, and I've seen thousands of CV's and job applications in this time. Whilst I've seen many great applications, I've also seen many where I wished I could help to rewrite them! I'm currently on maternity leave from my role and so I decided to have a little project and I've started a blog. I hope through my posts there will be useful tips and advice to help people enhance their job applications It is based on my experience as a recruiter, so may not work in every situation, but I hope people will find it helpful!

It's totally free, with not strings attached (other than I've been wanting to find a way to help people) and I welcome any feedback or questions.

It's only a week old, so I'm still building up the content, but feel free to take a look!

You can follow me on Facebook: www.facebook.com/maketheshortlist

    or my blog is: www.maketheshortlist.blogspot.com

    Thanks
    Shannon

    Hai shannon,

Thank you so much for sharing such useful information for all of us who are now trying to find job in NZ.
In your opinion, is it difficult to find job in NZ if we don't have local experiences?
Is that also considered while looking in a application?
My husband expertise is in network engineer area and he has been working in that area for more than 6 years but not in NZ.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Hi Aisyah
You're welcome. I'm sorry I can't really help with this answer. My last 5 years recruitment experience has been recruiting for roles within the company I work for and whilst we were happy to consider all applicants, I'm not sure what other people in the industry are looking for. I'd suggest making sure he has a great cover letter specific to each role/company that he is applying for, and a simple, easy to read CV.
Sorry I couldn't have been more help.
    Good luck
    Shannon
