Default Looking for food ingredients (pink Laksa flower) in Wellington to make Laksa

    Hi,
I'm in progress to cook my own Assam Laksa. It is a delicious Malaysian dish. I have found absolutely all raw materials to make it. The one and only thing I am missing is the pink Laksa flower. It is also called Ginger flower in English, or Bunga Kantan in local Malay language. Does anyone know where to find such a flower in Wellington?
Picture from Google Images looks like this: https://www.google.co.nz/search?num=....1.YgeYIdkRT5k

    Any one knows ???

    Thanks!

    Coco.

I found near the bottom of this thread http://nyonyafood.rasamalaysia.com/b...ch-ginger-bud/ someone saying that they have found them to buy frozen in NZ. And a bit later on, other language names are mentioned, which may help the search. (I've never seen these flowers - aren't they beautiful? Great to have something that looks so good and tastes wonderful!)

If you are in Auckland - I've seen it sold at an Asian shop in Pinehill. Frozen, vacuum-packed of course and it is expensive. Since you are asking for Welly however, I am clueless where you might find it. Assam laksa is not a known, popular dish in NZ, the more common variety is the coconut-based laksa.
