Default If I hold a Work Visa, how about spouse?

    Hi there,

I apologize if this has been asked in the forum before. I'm from Singapore and I need to know if I am granted work visa (Silver Fern) and found a job in New Zealand, what options can I take in order to secure a work visa or dependent visa for my husband?

I know one of the way is to apply for Skilled Migrant visa but are there other ways too? This is if my husband has no job offer.

Appreciate any reply or feedback I can get, thanks!

The Silver Fern Job Search Visa (that is, the first one) doesn't give any entitlement for a visa for your husband. Once you get to NZ, as long as you gain skilled work, you can qualify for the Silver Fern Work Experience visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...experience.htm, or one of the other work visas http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra.../requirements/, and those all entitle your husband to apply for a partner-sponsored temporary work visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...milystream.htm, to match your visa for length of time. As you already know, if you apply for Residence under SMC, you can include your husband in the application.
