    Question Expression of Interest fee

    Hi everyone!

    I have been looking in Skilled Migration Category. According to the Point Indicator I can gain 135 and maybe more or less, of course depends on the officer evaluation later. I want to be sure at the very first step is there ant fee to submit EOI or the fee is for the time they accept my EOI? For me if I am sure that the evaluation on my EOI will score me to 140 then I will definitely go ahead an pay the fee and prepare all the other requirements. But if according to evaluation I will be scored less than 140 I wouldn't apply since according to the fact sheets from previous years No one got accepted with the score lower than 140.

    I would appreciate if someone could help me with this issue since I couldn't get it figured out immigration.govt.nz.

    Farshad.

    Yes, you have to pay a fee - the EOI won't be lodged unless you do. The fee is for processing the application, not for 'buying' a visa.

    If you'd like to share what you think you're getting your points for, people may be able to help by seeing if they think you're entitled to more, or less.

    No one got accepted with the score lower than 140.
    They did, you know, 67 of them as recently as December 12th. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/ex...9C967F608D.htm And some more. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/ex...DF40BE5394.htm http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/ex...2C3E6995B4.htm http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/ex...4A02061A11.htm (etc., etc..)

    And besides the people with bonus points, if you can get a job offer, your EOI will be selected with any number 100 or above.

    Dear JandM;
    I appreciate your help and very helpful information you provided. You are right; there have been people accepted with points lower than 140. I know that the ‘’fee’’ is for the processing the visa and completely understandable. Here I explain my situation and how I have understood and evaluated my points. I will appreciate if you or anybody else could give me some idea if I would have chance or not. Also let me know if I am evaluating myself correctly. I will post a new post on the forum with’’ Point Indicator help’’ subject to see if there are people with some idea on it.
    - Skilled Employment (0 point)
    I have been applying for jobs but it seems I shouldn’t count on this since it is less likely to get a job offer while I am outside New Zealand.

    - Qualification (80 points)
    * Master degree in Aquatic Ecology, Bachelor in Natural Resources Engineering - Fishery
    * I began my study for level 3, 4, 5 or 6 recognized qualification before 24 July 2011.
    * As I interpreted from occupation list my skill is in the Long Term Skill Shortage List (Science Part A / Skill Level One Occupations) areas of absolute skills shortage.

    - Relevant Work Experience (25 points)
    * 4 years of relevant work experience (anywhere)
    * 2 to 5 years work experience in areas of absolute skills shortage.
    * The work experience gained in an area of absolute skills shortage.

    - Age (30 points)
    * 29 years old.

    Total=135
    Thanks.
