2nd year visa

Hi guys,

Was wondering if any1 can advise me my boyfriend has been living in NZ for a year now (on 13th March) he had send away for his police certificate that had to come from the UK but has still not received it so he left his visa forms for a second year visa in today with a covering letter explaining the issue! From reading on the immigration website it would appear it could take a number of weeks for it to be processed! So what should my boyfriend do? Should he leave the country and return when he gets the visa?

Ask INZ. Strictly speaking he would be illegal after the visa expires, but they may well cover him as there is a reason for it and they know in advance.

Has he followed up with the authorities in the UK? INZ usually like to see copies of someone's efforts to get the right papers, to see they've done their best.
