Working Holiday Visa - Funds required

Hi,

I am new to the forum, I am a French guy looking living in Auckland looking for a job in IT (Software, Web and Database Development).

I really need help to know if the Immigration checks if I have the $4200 to apply for the Working Holiday Visa.
They said that for when you enter the country but nobody asked for anything at that time.
I don't have all the money required, I am actively looking for a solution before my Tourist Visa ends (on May 24th).

So my question is, do you really have to show that you have the funds or is it possible that they don't ask once you're already in the country? Did anyone applied for a Visa while being in NZ?

Yes, you have to provide proof of funds. My sister was asked to produce a bank statement when applying from within NZ.

Can the money be in a foreign bank account or does it has to be in a NZ bank account?

I believe my sister used her Canadian bank statement.
