    Default Malaysia Airways

Hi, has anyone flown with Malaysia Airways and stayed over in the transit hotel at Kuala Lumpar?

Never had the opportunity to fly MAS but the rest of the family has. We normally use no-frills Jetstar to fly to NZ. To them, to fly MAS economy class is the equivalent of flying business class in Jetstar (this is not to say MAS is good but how bad Jetstar is).

If you have not been to KLIA, it is a pretty big and nice airport. It is your last chance to see how cheap things are (even at airport prices) before you land in NZ.

We flew Malaysia Airways recently and had a good experience, despite the long flights.
Our stop over in KL was only 1 and then 3 hours, so can't comment on the hotel but the airport is a nice, large, modern airport with some free wifi available.

This is untrue. JetStar has a bad reputation but you cannot compare their business class with Malaysian Economy Class.

JetStar "Business Class" is really a Premium Economy Cabin in all but name, but it's significantly above Malaysia Airlines Economy in terms of leg room and seat width. JS business class is arranged 2-3-2 in an A330. The equivalent plane is 2-4-2 in economy class on a Malaysian A330.

I've nothing against Malaysian Airlines and have flown long haul with them a few times (economy), but I would much rather take a long haul J/S BS class flight because it's so much less cramped. You can also get J/S BS tickets on sale sometimes for a few hundred dollars to Singapore. Then it becomes an easy choice.

I've not flown them but had a friend who used to use them all the time as he used to travel to Malaysia a lot. He rated them very highly - although he was flying biz class.

    Hi gingerdingo
We used Singapore last year from UK via Singapore to Auckland. They were fantastic, nothing was too much effort, plenty of leg room (even in economy) and the food was brilliant (very accommodating wrt to food intolerances/allergies). Good flight times and only 1 hr 40 minute lay over before the flight to Auckland.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Think we have decided to go with Singapore,LHR to WLG.

We are going to have a six hour stop over and use the Transit Hotel at Singapore.Hopefully we will manage to get some sleep !

We are just waiting for the solicitors to exchange the contracts on our house sale.
