    Default where to begin?

Hi, I' currently live near Toronto, Ontario. I'm a Canadian citizen who wants to move to NZ. Rather then name the reasons I want to go, I just want to know where do I begin? What's the best route to get citizenship there, or at least a job so that I can work on getting citenship. Are they in need of a certain field, teachers, doctors etc?

    Thanks a lot.

You can't apply directly for citizenship.

If you have the necessary qualifications, you can apply directly for Residence. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...k/workperm.htm

Or, with a skilled job offer, you can apply for a temporary work visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra.../requirements/, which can be processed more quickly than residence and can entitle you to start working in NZ while a Residence application is going through.

If you have connections with a NZ citizen, resident or work visa holder, there is the family stream, which doesn't require any particular career, just a provable partnership. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...milystream.htm

Here are the skills urgently needed in NZ. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ls.htm?level=2

And even if you aren't qualified in one of THOSE skills, you can still be counted as a skilled worker if you have the qualifications in one of THESE careers. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/35165.htm

I don't live in NZ, but have family there and have often visited.

If you are young enough for a WHV, you could visit NZ and try to get the offer of a permanent job. But for anything long term based on a career, you are likely to need paper qualifications. Applications for work visas or Residence are all about how you can best present yourself, for the official to be able tick the necessary boxes.
