Default Degree Qualification Translation in CHCH

    Hi All,

This is my first post. My partner and I were delighted to have our EOI selected from the pool and are now in the process of gathering all our information. I'm struggling with a couple of things...

Firstly my Degree is in Latin, Can anyone tell me where I can get this translated to English in Christchurch. I'm not too keen on mailing it anywhere to get this done and it seems that a copy is not sufficient.

Secondly We're Irish and English is our first language...do we still need to provide evidence that we meet the English language requirements? And any ideas what we can provide that will be sufficient?

    Thanks in advance

See paragraph c iii here. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/41495.htm You need to state that you were born, brought up and educated in an English-speaking country, and mention the qualifications you hold (school exams as well as degrees and career certificates etc.) that were taught in English. That's normally enough.

Thank you for that. I don't suppose anyone else can help with the translation issue?

I imagine Latin translators are quite thin on the ground...
We got official translations done at the dept of internal affairs in wellington. (Very very irritating to have to pay for this....)

I would give them a call about your situation and ask if they can help or know of anyone in Christchurch. They only accept original copies.
Try the classics dept at the University of Canterbury as well. They might be able to help.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions, I've just emailed both of these departments so fingers crossed something works out.

I really don't fancy sending the original degree in the mail...I can feel the stress levels rising....
