Default Job offer for people who have Silver Fern Job Search Visa

    Hi everyone,

Is there any minimum salary limitation on job offers given to people who have Silver Fern Visa?

The story is that my friend has got a job offer that is related to his experience and is permanent too. But the employer has just started his business and its company is very small and cannot afford to pay more that $35k annually.

Can this job offer help my friend to apply for a Practical Experience Visa?

I will appreciate it if you answer my question asap, because we may loose this offer.

    Thanks in Advance,

It has to be comparable to a skilled employment offer. For part A & B, there is no restriction for minimum salary while for part C, it must not be less than 45k per annum. However, as far as I hear of, the salary for skilled employment is usually expected no less than 45k p.a. as well. For details, please refer to:

Here's what the INZ operational manual says about the job that will get you the SF work experience visa. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/45677.htm You'll see that WL3.1.1 a tells you the job must meet the skilled job criteria, and the link there takes you to a page that says the same as kuncle's link, above.

But then, farther down, WL3.1.1. b v says skilled employment must meet the generic work provisions. Going to that link http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/34388.htm, we find W2.10.5, general requirements for employers. Section d says, "To ensure that the objective of work visa instructions at W1(b)(iii) is met, immigration officers may require employers to provide evidence that the rate of pay offered to non-New Zealand citizen or residence class visa holder workers is not less than the market rate for New Zealand workers in that occupation." (That other instruction is about ensuring that the employment in New Zealand of non-New Zealand citizens and residence class visa holders does not undermine the wages and conditions of New Zealand workers.)

I was just looking at recent figures about NZ earnings. $35,000 a year is apparently the average NZ income, with the norm for bar staff and similar jobs being somewhere in the $31,000s. I'd therefore be very surprised if $35,000 passed as being an appropriate salary for a skilled worker.

I think skilled worker needs at least 55,000 NZD to be accepted under skilled migrant, am I right JandM?

I had that same figure in mind, but when I looked it up, it's what kuncle says above. You can see in the links that I posted just after him. Maybe the $55,000 used to be mentioned in a previous version of the rules.
