    Default US moving company recommended

We are moving from Vermont, USA to Wellington, NZ in July.

RSS LLC (http://www.rssllc.net/) was outstanding for us, and several thousand dollars less than other companies we talked to. Unlike most of them, these guys don't tell you that it's "the law" that they have to pack everything for you. They let you do it yourself, and you save a ton of money.

They spent 8 hours at our house wrapping furniture and loading stuff into the container. Our moving guys were amazing, but keep in mind, they subcontract this out, so it will be whoever your local moving company is. The container will leave Boston on June 6 and arrive in Wellington on August 15.

The invoice from RSS was $7K. They allowed us to forego their own destination services in NZ, which would have cost $1,300, and use a local NZ company instead. They facilitated all the communication. The cost for the NZ company is $900 NZD -- effectively saving us about $500 USD.

The move isn't finished yet, but so far we've been really happy with them.

I should also add that we spent a solid week packing up all of our small stuff (dishes, tools, etc.) into boxes, so that saved us a lot of time and labor cost. All they had to do was the big stuff like furniture. It takes longer than you'd think to wrap up all that stuff. Had we not taken care of all the small stuff, they would have been there at least an extra day.

Did you ship vehicles with that or was it just household items? Did you take big appliances also?

Did not ship vehicles. (Steering wheel is on the wrong side)

Did not ship appliances (Wrong voltage)

And one more revision -- the cost was actually $6k, not $7k.

    Hello Slater,
Is $6k with all the destination charges and fort fees? Did you ship 40 foot container or 20 foot container? Do you think it's worth to ship your used stuff from US? Did NZ custom charged you for duty?

Thank You very much for your time.
