Travel restrictions on Parent Category Visa
Hi all
Can anyone help please?
We will be going to NZ in August having sucessfully been granted a visa via the Parent Category route. We have a new grandchild due in Nov who will be born in Japan and so we want to travel to see him/her - will we be allowed? Are there travel restrictions to this visa? We have just sent our passports off for the visa to be put into them and so don't know what it states.

You're going to have Residence, so you'll have two years' travel conditions with that, which allow you to come and go freely, running from when you activate your visas upon first arrival in NZ. When the two years are up, you should be able, depending on the time you've spent in NZ to that date http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...quirements.htm, to apply for PR (which doesn't have any travel conditions, and will allow you to come and go freely for ever).
