Post Recommended for Approval in Principle

    Hi,

My CO say the below for my SMC application for NZ residency on 29-May-2013:

"Just a quick message to say that at this stage I don’t need any further documentation from you – I have recommended your application for approval in principle.
Your application will now be passed on to a senior officer for verification. As I mentioned on the phone, this process can take 3 to 4 weeks, and I should have a decision for you after that"

    What does this mean..

i do security work for a bank and we do this practice all the time.

it is likely a 'dual-control' compliance stuff to ensure that everything is in order before they make the final decision. looks like you're very near. just wait for the longest 3 to 4 weeks of your life (you may develop temporary OCD with the immigration website). it would be worth it! best wishes!

All INZ cases have to be looked over by an official of equal or higher grade before the final decision is released. This is to check for any mistakes, and also as a guard against corruption. As with many procedures, how long the result takes depends on the workload in 'your' particular INZ office. If there is a large backlog when yours is passed through, obviously, it joins the back of the queue and has to wait its turn. We have heard of the verification taking anything from two hours, to months.

Edited to say - this is the procedure you were asking about here. http://www.enz.org/forum/showthread....ht=#post482208
