Question EOI 120 points without Job Offer

    Hello all,

I have plans to immigrate to New Zealand since a while now and have even saved funds for that. Lately I have filled the form for Points Indicator on https://www.immigration.govt.nz/ and the results were pretty satisfying (from my point of view) being it 120.

The thing is: I have no job offer, though my experience and graduation area regards Information Technology which is, as far as I know, in the "future growth areas" as well as in the "areas of absolute skills shortage". I'm a bit uncomfortable with dispatching an EOI since it costs NZD 400,00 which is approximately R$ 700,00 (Brazilian Real) without even knowing odds of being selected.

I was also reading this document: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd...LEDMIGRANT.PDF

A part that really got my attention was:

    POSSIBLE OUTCOMES
We approve your application - You receive a resident visa, and can live and work in New Zealand
We defer your application - You receive a nine-month Job Search temporary visa for the purpose of obtaining an offer of ongoing skilled employment in New Zealand. Once you provide evidence of this to INZ your application will be approved.

So, if only they defer my application giving me a temporary visa to find a Job would be enough.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks in advance!

The most important thing for you to look at is the history of selections http://formshelp.immigration.govt.nz...ts/eoi2013.htm

This shows that, if you don't meet the 140-point criteria without a job offer, you won't get selected.

We were in the same situation so I chose to try and get a job offer from abroad. It was disheartening and very hard. And as many people on here will testify, those of us that got those offers while still abroad are lucky.

There are other routes to NZ without going straight for Residency. See if you'd be eligible for another type of visa, i.e. working holiday, to get you into the country and allow you to find (and start) work, which will then lead you to Residency.
