Default Passport for 2 months old baby

I would like to know whether it is compulsory to get a passport for a 2 months old baby or it is possible to submit ITA with her Birth Certificate. Our baby is added to my wife's passport. Please advice.

    Thank you.

Yes, your baby needs a passport. 'A current passport or certificate of identity for each applicant' is mentioned as a requirement on p. 23 of the guide http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd.../0/INZ1105.pdf, and this is separate from 'A full birth certificate for each applicant'.

Hi, JandM & kiwihusker, thank you for your replies. We'll get a passport for the baby.
