Default NZ$ is on the move ....

..... but for how long. Good to see the NZ$ at 1.998 to the £ this morning, hopefully it will continue as its been a long time since we saw it at this level. So long as the USA continues to not print money we might see it go a little higher or a lot higher

I would love to see that against the Euro, but there is not that much hope for that!

Wow! NZ$ 1 = US$ 1.28. This is better than it has been in a long time!

I don't think it is beneficial for NZ to have its currency to be overvalued for the long term, from an economic point of view anyway. The economy needs to bounce back and it isn't due to the high $ and low interest rates.

Aside from that it probably means yearly overseas trips back to the UK since the pound is being hammered and people are taking advantage of that.

Ummm... Ben Bernanke is printing US$85 billion per month at this time, and has been for many many months. Two days ago, he put the US stock markets in a hissy fit by even suggesting the _possibility_ of taking away the punch bowl.

Longer term, as issues with the Yen and Euro (and Yuan) continue to... not be fixed at all... capital will seek refuge in the US dollar. That movement will eventually ripple out everywhere. It's going to continue to be very "interesting" for the next 5-7 years, IMO. It's not going to get calmer nor more "normal".

    Just my FRN$0.03.
