Default If on JSV - Is it required to work for Accredited employer to get WTR - Out of Curousity

    Hi,

Is it mandatory for a legal migrant (on JSV) to work for a Accredited employer to get WTR or can he work for any employer and still can get it?

    Regards,
    Ankur

Somone on a the SMC JSV won't be looking to get WTR - if he gets a skilled job, then his Residence, which has been deferred, is activated.

The job can be for any employer, accredited or not, but it MUST be a skilled job in the skill proved in the applicant's application.

When you say residence here, you mean PR. Am i right?
And, for how long is it valid?

No, I mean Residence. When someone applies successfully under SMC, the visa they get is Residence. PR is something you can only get if you have established commitment to NZ, after living in the country on a Residence visa for a minimum of two years. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...quirements.htm

Residence is potentially valid for ever, if the person stays in NZ. It comes with two years' travel conditions which allow him to come and go freely, but after that, it would lapse if he went outside NZ without getting further travel conditions, or PR, as mentioned above. PR is valid permanently - the clue is in the name! - and allows travel in and out of the country.

    Hi JandM,
I have a small question here.

When are you in NZ (on JSV) and you got a skilled job offer, is it required to be permanent and sustainable? or is it ok to have a 12-month more contract?

    Regards,
    Raju

The requirements for a skilled job offer are covered here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/46411.htm and here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/30549.htm. SM7.15 b, at the second link, is the part that refers to your question. It depends whether INZ are happy that the employer can, and will, give you more work at the end of the current contract.
