Sorry, but there's no 'generally' in the picture - it varies, like so much INZ stuff!

If it is just 'stamping' the passport then you are talking days not weeks, but I suspect you are talking about the whole application process?
You can check the processing times for the average time and if you post what visa then I'm sure others will give you recent times for them to give you a likely range - No guarantees about your actual times of course.
