Expired passport

We are submitting our application for PR under the family category and have completed our Police checks and Medicals. I have just realised that my son (aged 5)'s passport has expired. Should we submit our application now with the expired passport details and state that it is currently being renewed or wait until we have the new passport?

I'd say wait until you have your new one because you'll have to transfer the visa which is a lot of hassle - don't think they'd issue a visa on an expired passport anyway.
