Question Partner's passport is not available in a short period, can I submit EOI before she gets it?

    Help!

My partner is waiting to apply for her passport, and that will have to take several months.

The most embarrassing thing is that I may fall into another age level when she could get her passport.

Can I submit EOI before she gets it? If it's possible, how should I fill the passport number of the partner in the online verison of EOI form? Do I need to explain the situation in the form? Will it cause negative impact on my application?

    Hi

You are in a very difficult situation as u mentioned u ll move to next age bracket, then u ll loose some crucial points on EOI.
So, I think you can submit your EOI now with the current passport details. And in the meantime you get the invite and apply for ITA, you can submit new passport details.
In new passport, your previous passport number and other details will be mentioned, so I guess you are safe in doing so.

But I don't think the situation is the same. If your partner has an old passport, then you can give that number and later update it to the new one. If she doesn't have a passport at all at the moment, I don't think you can apply with no passport number to give. (Even when parents have a new baby arrive during the visa processing, they can't add the baby to their application till they have got him/her a birth certificate and passport.)

You could ask INZ if there is any way round this - contact them directly. But don't be surprised if there is nothing to be done but wait.

Hi, harman_nz, thanks for your reply.

Compared with that thread, my situation is a little bit different. My partner doesn't have a passport now, so there is no passport number, while changing an expiring passport won't cause it's number changed.

What is not clear for me is that I don't know how to fill the partner's passport information section, can I simply fill in a 'NA' ?

Thanks for your advice, JandM, you are always helpful.

I agree that the best way is to consult INZ, as only they can give the authoritative answer. I will try to ask after my IELTS.

I received an email from INZ which said that passport number is not a mandatory field, and that if it is left blank, the applicant needs to supply a valid passort when lodging materials after ITA.

Does this mean I can submit EOI before my wife gets her passport?

I received my IQA report today and got a L7 bachelor of Engineering Technology with comments which notes "This degree specialises in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology".

Can this specified outcome be used to apply for 'Software Engineer' under SMC?

    Thanks!
