    Default Building Apprenticeship Wages

    I am hopeing to begin a building apprenticeship in a couple of months in the North Island of New Zealand in Hamilton. Just wondering if anybody has any experience as to the wages that apprentices get paid, i am 24 and have studied quantity surveying in the past,i also have completed a pre-trade course.Thank you

    Hi. Not sure if this link is any good - http://www.trademe.co.nz/jobs/salary-guide. It might be down near the minimum wage ($13.75 an hour) - and it could even be the training wage ($11.00) an hour. See - http://www.dol.govt.nz/er/pay/minimumwage/. I guess you have to think of it as an investment in your future? You never know, being a little older with some other training behind you, it might be better than this! Cheers. Karen

    Ya I would be happy to start on minimum wage or thereabouts as opposed to stories I have been hearing about $9-11 for just out of school apprentices, Thank you for you comment Karen.
