Default Ever heard of change in Case Officer

We have long applied for SMC Residence Visa since 2012.
Lodged our ITA on 29th of October 2012 in shanghai branch.
but since we both work here in UAE, the application was transferred to London Branch last april.
last month our CO emailed us asking for the primary applicants' previous job contact details
and some additional proof that we have been living together for more than 12 months.
now we have sent her everything, including the evidences and she replied that it will be looked through
once there is a NEW CASE OFFICER assigned.

We are quite not sure how this CO thing works and why our application seems to take longer than any other
application? how many CO are supposed to handle one application?
our application will count 1 year next month since we lodged our ITA.

Hi. Don't worry about the change of Case Officer. There have been a lot of job changes within INZ over recent months as part of a major restructure. In London, lots of people have moved from one position to another and between teams. The new person will have access to all your files. You don't say where you are from originally. Checks that are carried out can take longer than usual, depending on how easy it is to get the information from the relevant authorities in your home country. If you have a new Case Officer, you could drop him or her a friendly email to ask if there is any idea of how long it will be before you get a decision. Good luck!

Hi Karen, thank you so much for the info, i just recently checked their email and noticed that the CO's position in her signature was changed and now that you have confirmed it, we now have a clearer idea on what was going on in their office. hopefully the new CO would contact us as soon as possible.
