    Default Usa transit visa

Hi have just booked my flights for moving over which have a brief stopover of a few hours in san fransico, was wondering if anyone else who travelled via the US needed a transit visa some sites ive looked at say you do others say uk citizens are exempt so any advice from anyone who has travelled recently would be very good.
    Thanks

There are strict conditions about being eligible for US visa waiver. Best to look at what the US themselves say, and see if you qualify. http://london.usembassy.gov/niv/vwp3.html

You need to be pre-screened clearance under US's Homeland & Security called the Visa ESTA program. https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/

$14 processing fee, this allows you to visit the US (even if you're only in transit).

Only country that is exempt from ESTA and requiring not pre-clearance is Canadian citizens.
