    Question Self-employment and visas???

    Hi,

So i'm moving to NZ this month on a WHV and aim to be in proper employment. However, I also intend to build my clients base as a translator, meaning I would be self-employed. What would be the visa options for me as a self-employed person, given that nobody would be vouching for me or 'sponsoring' me? Or is it impossible to gain a visa this way without being some kind of multimillionaire who can invest immensely in the country?

    Thanks!

The only option for those not employed by someone else is on the INZ website in the business/entrepreneur visa section. You don't have to be a multimillionaire to go this route, but there are other requirements, not monetary - I'm not sure they'd suit a one-person set-up, but have a look and see if you can imagine a way to make it work.
