Hi everyone!
My name is Nilofar, I am a 25 year old single female. I hail from Afghanistan but have spent most of my life living abroad (in the middle east) due to obvious reasons; things are bad (worse) back home.
I decided to head east for immigration purposes to English speaking countries like OZ or NZ because I feel they not only offer a better life but my liberal ideals would fit in better with the people there compared to here.
I know most Afghans travel to your country in the form of refugees by boat but I decided to take this road because I think MAYBE I have the skill sets that can be put to use there and I can be a useful member of society. Moving to New Zealand is not a pleasure trip for me; its a DREAM that could change my life forever
According to the NZ immigration website IF I have Bachelors degree judged to be at level 7 I can claim points for an LTSSL position (System Analyst) and submit my EOI with 110 points.
My relevant details for claiming these points are:
i) Master of Science in IT (2 years - distance mode)
ii) Bachelor of Science in IT (3 years - from the same Indian University as above but with regular classes)
iii) ITIL 3.0 Certified
iv) IELTS (Scheduled to be taken 7th December; I think I can claim 10 points for scoring 5+?)
v) 4 years total work experience as a System Analyst/Developer (This is listed under the Long term Skilled Shortage List and IT being a Future Growth Area)
My doubts and application status so far:
1) I lodged a PAR last week and received a score of 8 on my MSc (I regret I didn't mention it was distance mode so they could have given me a more accurate scoring) but I haven't lodged a PAR for my Undergrad degree yet and wonder if I should or shouldn't since I already mentioned it under "Supporting qualifications" when submitting the MSc PAR.
2) I believe I can submit my EOI at this stage, but most likely they would ask me to go for an IQA right? So is it better I send my documents for an IQA and wait for the result rather than wasting $ on an EOI only later to learn I cannot claim the LTSSL points?
3) If during the IQA they score my Bsc as below 7 but my Msc as 7 or above; can I still claim the points?
4) Will doing my studies through distance mode have a major impact on the scoring? The University is recognized in India (although not on the exempt list on the immigration website) and is part of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
5) Are there any other Visa options for me if my IQA comes out to be negative?
For the IQA, I have compiled the following list of documents I will need to submit (please let me know if I am on the right track):
-Passport : Attested copy
-Work Experience letters : Attested copy
-Master and Bachelor Degree : Original
- ITIL Certificate : Original
-Transcripts : Original
-School Certificate : Original
-Syllabus : My transcripts already detail the subjects I studied, whats the meaning of Syllabus here and does it need to be attested and by whom? Also, is it a mandatory requirement?
-CV : Is there a specific template I need to follow?
I hope I make it because it would make the biggest difference in the quality of life I lead. I have nothing left to look forward to if I can't live a free life :|
Thanks in advance for your tips and help!!!
