Default Web developer/ IT technician work visa

    Hello,

My colleague is a web developer/IT technician.
He has plenty of experience in his home country but he has only been working in NZ for 6 month on WHV.
He wants to apply for a work visa first and then hopefully residence visa later.
Downside is that he did not go to university.
Is there a chance for him to get a work visa though he doesn't have a degree?

I believe his occupation must meet the minimum educational requirements as set by INZ in its listing.
Do a check on the levels of education/experience against his occupation.

Or if you are in NZ, just check out with INZ directly.

He couldn't go straight for Residence, unless he's got a level 1 skill and at least five years allowable experience before he came to NZ - he wouldn't be able to claim any bonus points for LTSSL, and he would need to get at least 100 for his EOI, with a NZ job in place. He COULD get a work visa, ideally if his employer is Accredited, go for a Work to Residence Visa. If the employer is not accredited, he could still get an Essential Skills Work Visa. (INZ normally accept the employer's opinion that this person is suitable for the work, and therefore don't insist on qualifications like they do for going directly to EOI.) With the job and then some NZ experience, he could afterwards get residence.

Thank you very much guys. Much appreciated.
I wasn't too sure if he could get a work visa as he lacks college degree which the LTSSL for Web developer says he needs to have to claim bonus point.
It looks like there's a hope for at least his work visa. :-)
