Is the American Express Platinum Edge too good to be true? I've read through their 24 page insurance document, and the only drawback I can see (besides the $149/year membership fee) is that only the first 35 days of a trip is covered. I think we spent close to $400 a month on our last trip to the US. Does anyone else use this card (or something similar) as their only travel insurance?

Yep, I have that one. My only comment that $2.5m (NZD) medical cover, whilst it sounds a lot, is less than I might expect to see for a trip to the USA. Around $7.5m, or unlimited - seems to be more usual on stand alone policies.
