Hi all, I have a few questions please for my sister. She and her family (bro in law and 2 kids) immigrated to NZ all together. My bro in law's parents sponsored him, so his family all came here.

They are currently on resident status. Marriage has failed and they have thought about divorce. Besides children custody issues, they have a few questions an hope NZ forum could help answering please:

1. If they file for divorce now and divorce is final, would my sister and their kids lose residency to even apply for citizenship later on knowing they were derivatives of my bro in law?

2. If either party wants to marry another foreigner outside of NZ, can he/she sponsor that person to come here to live in NZ? If so, how long does it take for a resident to sponsor that and for a NZ citizen to sponsor that person?

3. Can he/she sponsor that foreigner right after the divorce is final or have to wait certain time to do that?

Thanks!
