    hello everyone,,,, need your expert view on this...

    I have done Bachelor of Science (from Bangalore University passed out2005 ) will my education needs to be assesed by NZQA ???... when I checked the essentials list
    i found this ...Please advice...

    Bachelor of Science Honours** BSH 7 50

    ** Degree may also state a Class or Division. All Pass Honours, Third Class, or Pass Class / Division Honours degrees should be referred to NZQA for assessment.

    Yes, it will. Near the top of that page http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/47086.htm, it says this.
    The qualifications awarded by the institutions listed below qualify for the points indicated:
    And the list does not include Bachelor of Science on its own, without honours. Even then, the listing below for the University of Bangalore does not have the Bachelor of Science with Honours as one of the courses that is exempt - so if you had done that, it would still need to be assessed.

    Thanks JandM --- you are always first to give your valuable thoughts.

    I Had gathered some more information on my Bachelor of Science and the stream I have completed is Mathematics , Economics and Statistics. And when I checked thise stream is not avilable or listed in the qualification awarded from list ... then I checked the framework listings on the qualification listing in the NZQA website.

    In one of the Universiteis of Waikota I see in the content listing I see the subjects which I have completed my bachelors have been listed. ( Mathematics and Economics but not statistics)

    http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/nzqf/search/...ItemKey=WI0010

    My questions:
    1. Will I be able to get the credits of level 7 and get the points allocated to the educations. Based on the my educations streams.

    2. Will I need to get this reveiwed by the IQA before applying the EOI ( just to be on the safer end and save some money).

    thanks

    1 very likely, and/but 2 yes, everybody's qualification has to be assessed if it's not exempt. NZQA is the official organization trusted with this under NZ law. INZ doesn't give their COs the job of hearing any applicant say, 'Look, this or that university in NZ has nearly the same course, and I spent longer' - they can ONLY tick off a qualification if either, it's exempt, or else, there's an IQA in place.

    couple of situation---
    1. will the IQA perfrom a 360 round check correctly so that they would be able to check my subjects of bachelors degree in NZ and see what are the universities which would offer this.
    2. If by chance they reject my IQA stating that this will not qualify or not valid in NZ? Will I get a opportunity to go back to them to re-verify this university details? I know that they would perform the checks well before rejecting it.

    appreciated your thoughts here... since applying IQA will pinch my pocket with INR - 36000 .. hopefully my God's blessing it should go welll what do you say.. seeing the details which I shared across.

    1. That's their whole job.

    2. It's not a question of not valid, or not qualifying. The result appears, saying something like, 'A Level 7 bachelor degree, equivalent to a BSc in (whatever).' NZQA can't say you don't have a qualification. Their purpose is to show NZ authorities and employers what they can expect from this person. Foreign institutions sometimes give their qualifications names which don't have the same meaning in NZ as in the home country - that's why this is necessary. The time when there CAN be an unpleasant shock is if some foreign institution has, for instance, taught a course and called it a degree, when the content, depth and length of study would, in NZ, have gained the student a certificate at level 5 or 6.

    If someone particularly needs their foreign qualification to show up as equivalent to a certain NZ qualification, for LTSSL purposes, for example, they can ask NZQA to look out specially for that - there's no guarantee, but it's perfectly all right to ask.

    If someone receives an IQA that they don't feel is fair and justified, there is a procedure. See page 22 here. http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/assets/quali.../guide-IQA.pdf

    JandM,

    I have more clarifications: I would apply for the IQA before applying the EOI.

    currently my profile is called Manager - Security Adminsitration ( system access management) and something called as System Adminsitrato and also I have worked as System Engineer and Network administartor.

    =====================
    ICT Support Engineer
    ICT Security Specialist
    Systems Administrator
    Computer Network
    and Systems Engineer
    Network Administrator
    =====================

    assuming that my IQA ia assesed with a positive note and I would be assinged Level 7 , keeping in mind that Id ont have explicitly Computer degree but have the relavent exp. Can I claim for the bonus points in my EOI.

    =====================
    Bachelor degree (Level 7)
    specialising in Information
    Technology (Computer Science,
    Information Systems or other
    Information Technology) OR
    Bachelor degree (Level 7)
    specialising in Electrical and
    Electronic Engineering and
    Technology AND a minimum of
    three years’ relevant postqualification
    work experience.

    On your qualification assessment, as JandM said, NZQA will evaluate it based on set standards comparable to NZ equivalent qualification.( they do also look at your experience claims based on employee letters that you submit)
    The final outcome will have some sort of credit points (eg.360) & it will state whether your degree is comparable to NZQA for the points claimed.

    On the second part, i believe the points are considered in sync with both the experience & qualification requirements.
    Seniors can possibly throw more light on this.

    Yes. (It's not worth getting a PAR, although the EOI says you can put a PAR result on the form, because you'd still have to have the IQA done once your EOI is selected, before putting in the ITA.)

    The job title you currently have, and have had in the past, doesn't matter. (After all, an employer can call a job anything he feels like, and it doesn't have to match up to anything, or be descriptive at all - e.g. 'Room 12 supervisor', or 'assistant to Mr Brown'.) Therefore, it's the job descriptions, giving the range of skills used, responsibilities taken and qualifications required for each employment, which will be taken into consideration by NZQA.
