Default IT head hunters and recruiters in NZ

    Hi all,
Any suggestions for IT recruiters and head hunters in NZ?
I would like to get in touch with some of them and maybe meet them f2f while in NZ in March.
    Thanks in advance

There are some recruiters who specialize in matching niche jobs with right candidates. What is your domain?

Do you have a work permit or residence? Almost every recruiter will ask you that up front (including to take a copy during f2f) and will have little to no interest unless you have it. (Unless you are a specialist hire.)

Sometimes not all jobs are advertised, agencies have direct contacts with certain small & medium scale companies, so its always worth to stay in touch with as many agencies as possible.

Somehow I didn't have good experience with Potentia & Beyond Recruitment, some of their staff have preaching tone when you engage in conversation.

Try LinkedIn. Some recruiters specify that they take care of the IT industry, so you can connect with them and take it from there.

Tbh, recruiters have done nothing for me at all, I found them more of a hindrance. After a couple of months were nothing happened, I applied directly to companies (via websites and the Herald Job special advertisement in January), and got my first job that way. This being NZ, I would expect all subsequent jobs to come about via personal connections, not an agency as such.

Same for me. Recruiters haven't arranged any interview when I was looking for a job. Arranged 3 interviews via LinkedIn myself, one of them is my employer now. If you want, I can send your CV to our recruitment department. As it's a big company, we do many different things.

LinkedIn sounds a good advice, but I find it somewhat Catch22-ish. Where to find business contacts (beside recruiter companies), if you're not at work? :P I don't suppose other backpackers from hostels/orchards would be much of help and I'm not too keen on just cold-connecting with people I've never met.
