We don't have a Tassimo or Nespresso or Dolce. Didn't really like the coffee from my brother's Tassimo--granted he might be buying some wussy-ass coffee for it. I like espresso with a nice bite.
Just before Christmas we bought a Handpresso Wild, which is a manual espresso machine. You can use your own grind or it uses Easy Serve Espresso (ESE) pods. Both make a surprisingly good shot (with overrun) of espresso: a lovely crema too! You only need boiling water. I paid about NZD150 in total ordering it from Amazon.com, including shipping to NZ directly. After 2 weeks I ordered a second one for my office. Hubbie wanted one for his office too.
It's great for camping or travelling. The ESE pods are only available on a limited basis in NZ, but I've had no problems ordering them from the states and getting them shipped here: works out to about NZD0.60 (60 cents) per coffee. In other words, compared to the $4 I was paying for a coffee each day at work, it paid for itself in about 45 days.
If you're interested, go for the Handpresso WILD, not the Auto. The auto one only uses ESE pods and your car's lighter socket.
Something to think about when buying or using one of these machines:

For a NZ invented, biodegradable version:

Just twigged that a solution is to get a Nespresso or DG machine. I know about Dick Smith for electronics, but where do Kiwis buy home appliances?
Standard Nespresso capsules cost $0.97. You can spend up to $1.13 for fancy blends. See here: https://www.nespresso.com/nz/en/Order-Capsules
