Moving to NZ as International Student

Im planning to moved to New Zealand and study Engineering course by early next year
Im from Philippines and currently working here in Singapore as a Call Center.

I have no relatives nor friends to ask how would be likely to live in NZ. So, i found this enz site further more to help me on giving ideas.

Questions:

1. As a International student , Is it hard to get a job as a part timer?
2. Thus a person can sustain the needs on a part timer salary?
3. Upon completing your Degree, Is it hard to to find a full time job?
4. Thus, A Degree Holder is qualified to apply as an immigrant?

How hard or easy it is to find a job will depend partly on exactly what specialism you go in for, and (possibly) the contacts you make during your course. If you say what you have in mind, people will have a better chance of commenting helpfully.

In the long term, continuing to live in NZ will depend on your getting a suitable skilled job. The 'Work' section of the INZ website will show you about applying for Residence, or for a temporary work visa. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/ There is also Post-study work visa http://www.dol.govt.nz/immigration/k...base/item/1074 you can get immediately after you qualify, to give you time to job-hunt if you haven't yet got the offer of a skilled position.

From my experience working with international students in NZ, I can tell you that most of them who were really determined did get part-time jobs while they studied. They may have had to work in fast-food outlets, take cleaning jobs etc, but those who were prepared to do almost anything got under way and then found their second jobs much easier to come by. I also had students who did some voluntary work - which led to contacts who appreciated the fact that they were volunteering and this helped them. Obviously, the better the English, the easier it is.

1. In service industries in Auckland shouldn't be too hard. Avoid businesses that try to exploit overseas students by paying "under the table": often they don't honour their commitments.
2. This can be difficult, unless you can find affordable housing. But it can be done.
