Chinese Food

Been in Auckland 6 months and desperate for a good Chinese meal, either takeaway or restaurant - used to English Chinese - so far all the meals we have had taste bland and of corn flour and are such a disappointment - advice please of somewhere to good to go and eat

if its still there...go to the food court on queen st,just before the aotearoa square...hope this helps

The Eat Asian Food Court in mid-city off Queen St is where I go in CBD (could be the one Bbk is talking about) stall at bottom of stairs on left.

A bit further out is Canton Cafe in Kingsland. Doesn't look at all special from the street but the food is good.

Funny, I was never a fan of Chinese good in the UK and prefer the NZ version - not so sweet and gloppy with MSG. Thai is better, though.

Canton Cafe in Kingsland is proper Cantonese. Worth queuing for.

I love Northcote on the North Shore for authentic Chinese . There are so many good places in my opinion. This link gives you an idea
On a Sunday night from 5.30pm there is Glenfield night market with plenty of choice but there are other night markets all over Auckland with plenty of food choice as well as other interesting things not just chinese.

Phil try this one - Mamak in Chancery. Just had the rice dishes there and I find them very authentic and sumptuous.

Mamak in Chanchery is Malaysian food and not Chinese food.

It depends on what your budget is. Grand Park (Alexandra Park), Grrand Harbour (Viaduct) are quite good. Phoenix in Birkenhead and Asian Wok in Browns Bay are good too.
