Applied partnership based work and PR Visa!!! help needed.
Hi i am a newbie in this forum. We have applied my Mrs work and PR visa at Auckland central branch on 1st of May. But since then we haven't received any info regarding the applications and no fees has charged yet. However when we called the INZ on Friday, they gave the applications no but also told us that t the applications hasn't officially lodged. Which is very confusing. In addition, My wife current partnership based work visa is going to expire on 21st May. My question is this a normal procedure/protocol? or there is something wrong with the application. Any help or comment would be much appreciated.

Nobody outside INZ can tell you exactly what is happening with the Residence application, but my guess is that there have been a lot of applications in a short space of time so the office procedures are taking time to get through for all of them. Not being 'lodged' doesn't mean they haven't got the paperwork, just that it hasn't been completely processed to be entered into the system yet.
When going through the application process, there is an awful lot of 'hurry up and wait'. All the INZ officials are dealing with many cases as well as your own, and delays can arise from factors affecting others of those cases.
Everything at INZ works by managed queues. When your wife's application was received, it would join the end of the queue of other applications, according to the date order. Each Case Officer has a certain workload - a number of cases that are theirs to deal with. The newly arrived applications have to wait till one of the COs has finished with some of their cases, and can take on some more. When an application is eventually assigned to a CO, it will again join the back of THAT queue for the CO's attention, as s/he takes the top file, does what s/he can actively do, puts that file to the back, works everything s/he can on that case, goes to the next, and so on.
There is no way to tell how many other people's applications were in the queue to be assigned already, on the day yours arrived. There is no way to tell how easy or difficult the cases already being worked in the office are turning out to be, which affects the time passing until COs are ready to take more files into their personal allocation. There is no way to tell if three experienced COs in that office might leave and need to be replaced, with the new COs needing training. There is no way to tell if there could be a flu epidemic affecting the whole building.
Your wife's Residence is not going to be put through before her partner-sponsored work visa runs out - there isn't time. She will need to apply for another of these as soon as possible, to make sure she continues to be legal.

JandM, thanks for such an informative and complete reply. Yes we did apply for temporary visa (work) for extension with her residence application. I hope they will process it before her current visa would run out

Don't worry too much - even if the new work visa isn't ready, she should be eligible for an interim visa to bridge the gap. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...erimvisaqa.htm

Pretty relieved to see the info. Just worried if we have “failed lodgment” . Although this time we have provided stack of information compare to her previous application. If anyone have same experience or advice please share.

Just spoke to immigration contact center. They told application is still with document branch. Furthermore, they haven't officially accepted the application for process (submitted application on 1 May), My wife's visa is going to expire on 22nd May.
They have turn our fairly straight forward application into tricky one. She is not eligible for interm visa because it's not officially accepted yet. Very unhappy with the services
