Default Visitor visa to canada....plz advise

    Hello everyone,

I hold an Indian Passport and leaving in NZ from last 2 years. Now i want to go to Canada for few weeks to meet my family because i haven't met them from last 2 years. So could any one of you please tell me to how to get visitor visa for Canada?

My real sister and Brother in Law are working there in good company and they can send me an Invitation letter as well but i don't want to take risk because i have already got canadian student visa rejection which i applied from India almost 2.5 years before.

But as per my friend's knowledge, there shouldn't be any problem in getting few weeks visitor visa for Canada and its easier to go there from NZ compare to go from India.

    Please advise.
    Thanks in advance.

You need to use the Government of Canada website. From this page http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/v...?country=India, you should follow the links for all the instructions. From this page http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...ffices/vac.asp, I see there is a Canadian Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Auckland. Here are its details. http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/NewZe...ontact_us.html If you have any queries over the details, they are the people best placed to help you. (I've never seen this question raised here on ENZ before, since our focus is on visas for NZ, not from NZ for other countries.)

    Hi PS29.
I joined this site to get some info on my partner coming to NZ. She is a Canadian citizen and I have visited her a few times in the last year and stayed with her for a few weeks and then returned home, we meet while on my OE in Canada. Anyway, I can offer you some advise but everyone's case is always different.

You can visit Canada as a VISITOR. visit this link for more information. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/v...?country=India

You will need to ensure you have a return ticket when you arrive at the Canadian Border. CBS (Canadian Border services) are very strict on who they "let in to Canada" with regards to those visiting family. If you arrive at the Border without a return ticket (ie a return flight booked with Air New Zealand as an example) then CBS may and most likely will refuse you entry as CBS may think you will stay and not leave Canada when you visitors visa runs out.

"i have already got canadian student visa rejection which i applied from India almost 2.5 years before." Was your student visa rejected by CBS because you mislead them or was it rejected because you didn't meet to requirements of a student visa. If it was because you mislead them you are likely to be rejected at the border. I'm not in anyway suggesting that you mislead them in anyway but rejection could mean a few things, please don't take offence to my statement.

There are also ways for your family in Canada to support you to move to Canada but they must be permanent residents of Canada and lived there more than 3 years. This is something that requires you to do some research on as everyone's case is different. View the information about Family Class Visas here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra...-apply-who.asp when the website refers to "Sponsor your eligible relatives" this means your family who reside in Canada. I got a little confused at first.

In short, you must have a return ticket and not have had any visa for Canada declined due to dishonesty as this will impact on your entry to Canada. Your family living in Canada can be a local contact should you arrive in Canada and CBS need to verify your story to confirm you will leave canada after your visitor visa has expired. They have done this twice for me but only because they have a lot of visitors enter Canada to see family and never leave.

    Hope this helps,
