    Question Immigration Medicals

    Hi,

My application is currently in progress for SMC and i am advised to do my full medicals by my CO which i already done and submitted on 06 May 2014.
Also my GP wrote in the medical report in the application as that there are no significant findings or abnormalities found. But in my tests from laboratory shows that i had Sugar levels 41mmol but recommended is (<41mmol) and they put 'H' at the end of the result. and also my Hemoglobin is bit high where they kept 'H' at the end of the reading.

Can any one please help me in answering these questions...... how many days will it take to get clearance from INZ that my medical reports have no issues. Do INZ have special medical team to do the assessment?

    Thanks

    Regards,
    Pradnz

In the majority of cases where the doctor does not tick for any abnormalities, the CO accepts the medical as passing the guidelines. However it seems from people's experiences that in just certain cases with no abnormalities, and we don't know what signs the COs have to watch for for this to happen, the CO will refer the medical to the Medical Assessor anyway. Nobody can tell you whether or not your CO will find it necessary to refer your medical.

The Medical Assessors (MAs) are a totally different department. Once a medical is referred, the CO can't make a decision on the case till the MA returns their answer, passable or not. The MA has the power to require extra doctor's or specialist's reports, or medical tests, as many as they feel they need in order to get a clear idea of the applicant's physical state. There is no fixed time for getting their decision, since every case is different, and may just get, 'Yes, this is all right,' or a succession of, 'Get a doctor's letter,' then they do, 'Now, get xyz tested,' then they do that as well, then, 'Now get a consultant's opinion of abc,' and so on, till the MAs are satisfied one way or the other.

Thank you so much for the reply to my question.

My question is that any body who does the medicals that will have to go to the MA's first or CO can take decision with out referring to MA, unless there are some abnormalities CO finds in the medical reports. And also you told that there is no time frame for medicals but i need to know how much time they will take to access my initial medical application which i sent when CO asked me to do the full medicals before they take any decision to do 'xyz' test or 'abc' consultant's opinion.

Hope you understand what i am trying to say here!!

I think I see what you mean.

If the doctor who examined you does not tick for abnormalities, and the CO does not see anything in the paperwork to make him/her worried, then the CO can just tick the medical as satisfactory without referring it to the MA. That is what happens for most cases, really easily. Official opens file, looks at papers: 'Birth certificate - tick. Passport - tick. Medical - tick.'

But I don't think you can know right away whether or not this has happened to your medical. Even if you asked - probably not a good idea, as it might make the CO think, 'He thinks there's something wrong so maybe I should refer it' - the CO would probably not answer as it's not a vital question. And/But you WILL hear promptly from the CO if the medical has been referred, and if the MA requires anything more from you.

Thank you JandM for getting back to my question.

So i understood what you are trying to say here......

So when CO receives medicals report he/she will go through it first and then he/she will make a decision whether to refer to MA or not if he/she is not satisfied....Is that right

    Cheers....
