What visa to apply???

Dear members, my hubby has a job offer in New Zealand, contract has been signed and we are getting ready to move.
We currently live in uk, what visa should we apply for? I wish to live the permanently, we have 2 children.
His job is on Canterbury shortage list.

See under the heading of the Canterbury list here. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ls.htm?level=1 Evidently your husband will be eligible for a temporary work visa, and that will come through quite quickly to allow him to start work as soon as possible. You will have to check the other lists to see if he would also be eligible for Residence - if so, he can apply for that alongside the work visa.

For yourself and the children, you will have to apply separately. You will be able to apply for a partner-sponsored temporary work visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...milystream.htm, to match his for length of time. The children will need student visas if they are 5 or over http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...iningmyfamily/, or visitor visas if younger than that. You apply for all the visas at once, linked with a covering letter, and the CO will work the case as all one, supplying information like your husband's visa number (that you won't know to begin with) as it becomes available.

JandM is as always correct! Canterbury Skills Shortage visas with no issues are currently coming through in a few days! (I assume he meets the criteria for the occupation as listed on the Canterbury Skills list?)
