Skiing jobs

Hi!
I will be going to NZ this July on a working holiday visa.
I just wanted to ask can I find a part-time job working in skiing resorts for winter season?
Are there high demands and applications for jobs in skiing resorts during winter season?

It is pretty late in the game for most skiing jobs (application-wise) for this season: NZSki is the one of the biggest field operators and they are saying all recruiting is done (http://nzski.co.nz/employment/NZSki-jobs.jsp), although a few specialised positions are open: http://www.bfound.net/list.aspx?CoId=2043&rq=1

If you have experience and are a Certified Instructor or Patroller, you should get a look, but if you are just an eager body, it will be a lot harder to be noticed.

Also, you can check out the smaller club fields (Broken River, Craigieburn, Rainbow ) all show some positions open - check out http://snow.co.nz/ for a full list.

Have you been an instructor, lift operator, patroller or groomer before? Also, have you spent significant time in Alpine/Winter conditions before? I ask since you show Singapore as your current location and working on a ski field can be pretty rough, weather-wise, especially if you aren't inured to the cold - I lived in Colorado for 15 years and still had days teaching kids & adults to ski that left me frozen through ;-)

Thank you for your reply. I have been to Winter countries but not stayed there for a long time, and yes Singapore is a Summer country all year round.
Just to ask is there any ski resort near to Auckland? or are there more in Christchurch?

I am not certified instructor and I am just thinking of working as a ticket seller or anything not related to skiing (just for the experience of working in skiing resort).

There are a few areas on the North Island but most are on the South Island - check out this map for an overview: http://snow.co.nz/map/
The closest fields to a city are Mt Hutt and some of the Canterbury Fields (Craigieburn etc), west of Christchurch.
The volcanoes on the North Island (where the ski fields are located) aren't very close to Auckland. BTW - the ski field shown on the map near Auckland is a building that offers 'skiing' on an artificial surface, not a hill or mountain...
