Are candles cheap over there or should I pack them anyway in the boxes for NZ

    If it fits.. pack it

I regret giving away all my big candles to my sis in law - yeah, you can buy them here, but why go thru the expense of buying more if you have loads you can bring...

I bought ours, I think the restriction for MAF point of view is the beeswax ones are not allowed in, the rest are OK.

Pack them, you never know when you might need them, ours came in handy a few weeks back, had a power cut, everywhere was pitch black, my candles were put to good use.

Tealights are damn expensive here (i saw some at $17 for 25!) - go on an Ikea or lakeland shopping spree and stock up!

You cant bring beeswax candles in but other than that anything goes.

The other thing is that there actually seem to be very few "candle shops" here, so bringing your big church candles over is a really really good idea.

Cheers Guys, I can get Church candles (big ones) for £2 - £4 depending on what shop I go to, I guess I will have to go to the pound shops and stock up!
    Tealights - 24 for £1!

Yep - bring them ! I used to run 4 candle shops up in South Yorkshire a few years ago and so have a bit of knowledge on them NZ really does not offer a lot as far as "candle shops" go - we've only seen one in Newmarket (but not searched to be honest) - the rest are bits and pieces of handcraft candles and the normal Chinese cr*p.
