Applying for permanent resident visa

Hello

I obtained a resident class visa in Augst 2012.
I have already spent more than 184 days in New Zealand in each of the 2 years after I gained my residence,
so I will be able to apply for a permanent resident visa in August 2014 when the 2 year period is complete.
However, for some reason, I have to go back to my country before the expiry date of my travel conditions, which is in the middle of August 2014.
Is it possible for me to get a variation of travel conditions now and come back before the end of this year and apply for PR straight away if the criteria is met then?

I am 99% sure that so long as you apply before your travel conditions expire in mud August you can be granted a variation of conditions for a further 12 months. the cost is $180. If I were you I would phone one of the helpline numbers to confirm whether it is best to do this before or after you leave NZ.
