Help with Points for UK Qualifications
Evening All
My wife and I have just started looking into relocating our family to NZ and wondered if anyone can advise if A Levels count in the points system.
I have an A level in Accounts gained at evening class in 1989/90 from memory. Looking through various posts it appears it could be equivalent to an NVQ Level 3 and that counts as Level 4 Qualification on the NZ points system? (also have 9 O'Levels but doubt they count for much in this context).
My wife has passed her AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) to level 4 and her Certification states it is NVQ level 4 which we think equates to level 5 on the NZ immigration points system. She passed in 2001 and is a full member of the AAT allowing her to use MAAT after her name.
If anyone can confirm we have got this correct or not would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks ,
Phil & Karen

Your school qualifications (A levels) count for nothing.
The only professional Qualifications currently recognised from the UK are those from Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
You'd need to have the AAT qualification assessed by NZQA?
Much better to forget about points for qualifications and substitute with relevant work experience (and a skilled job offer)

You can't work out for yourself what your qualifications will be worth. You need to look here, under the country where you did the qualification, then under the institution awarding it. You must find the exact named qualification under your institution, and that the dates mentioned include the year when you qualified, for your qualification to be counted as exempt from assessment and worth the points mentioned, otherwise you will have to get it assessed by NZQA. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/35171.htm NZQA is here. http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/qualificatio...ns-assessment/
Also, whichever of you would be the principal applicant for SMC needs to make sure what the requirements are for the skilled job they're putting forward. Here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/i35162.htm is the list of what are considered skilled occupations. If the occupation is on the LTSSL, which is worth extra points, the exact requirements in the way of qualifications and/or work experience have to match. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/i35162.htm

If you get into difficulties, I will do a free (no obligation I promise!) points assessment for you. Once you have made 5 posts, just send me a private message. Karen

Hi
AAT is level 5 or was when I was assessed but you may have done a different sylabus to me which might give a different outcome. fYI CIMA for me worked out to level 7
